The Nimbin Roots Festival, a vibrant celebration of original music and artistic expression, is set to return to the picturesque village of Nimbin from Friday, October 25th, to Sunday, October 27th, 2024.

The festival is held in various venues throughout the village of Nimbin. Patrons enjoy wandering around the village and experiencing Nimbin, instead of being in one big paddock. The set-up also ensures the comfort and convenience of an all-weather event!

Founded by ARIA finalist and renowned singer-songwriter Lou Bradley, the festival enters its ninth year with a lineup that promises to blend well-loved Australian acts with the spirited ethos of Nimbin.

This year’s roster features iconic artists such as GANGgajang, known for their Australian rock sound, and the Pierce Brothers, who bring an irresistible energy with their folk-inspired tunes. Joining them are Dog Trumpet, adding a touch of rock legacy; Rod McCormack bringing the bluegrass, and the soulful blues of Hussy Hicks. Jimmy Dowling, Melody Pool, The Buckleys, along with the festival’s visionary Lou Bradley and many more fantastic artists and acts will grace the stages, each offering their unique musical narratives.

Nimbin Roots Festival is not just about music; it’s a cultural experience. Alongside the musical performances, attendees can enjoy vibrant markets, engaging workshops, and street performers, enriching their festival journey. The festival’s setting in Nimbin adds to its allure, known for its rich history in the arts and a community that champions an alternative, environmentally conscious lifestyle.

Lou Bradley, festival founder, and lifelong musician, shared her enthusiasm for this year’s event: “In light of the current situation in the music industry where the festival giants are canceling, we believe there’s no better time to stick to our ethos and keep on offering a small, quality and unique music festival for people to be able to afford to come for a few days and visit the beautiful Byron Bay hinterland to have an experience like no other.”

This year, the Nimbin Roots Festival artwork is supplied by renowned artist and Dog Trumpet member, Reg Mombassa. Reg’s art was featured by the Australian fashion, lifestyle & street brand; 100% Mambo for whom he has created designs since 1986. Known for his distinctive and evocative style, Reg’s iconic, quirky artwork embodies the festival’s ethos and enhances the visual appeal, drawing festival-goers into the heart of Nimbin’s artistic community.

Reg Mombassa remarked on the festival’s poster the event’s unique charm: “Great festival to perform at and we look forward to this year’s Festival. Nimbin is very cool. The beauty of the natural environment makes for a wonderful Festival – really looking forward to returning.”
